Competition Theme

"The impact of electronics innovation on future lifestyle, quality of life, and personal development"

Qualifying period

1 – 31 March 2012


1st prize - $5000 cash NOW upgraded to $8000
2nd prize - $3000 cash
3rd prize - $2000 cash

Special prizes – include “backstage” tickets to meet renowned CEOs/Managing Directors of top electronics companies.

Who can participate?

Students from Junior Colleges (JC), Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Polytechnics and undergrads from universities

How to qualify?

1. Form a team of 2-4 people (excluding actors and cast), with at least one team member from electronics/electrical/computer engineering or related disciplines
2. Register your team online (see below)
3. Produce a video clip of up to 3 minutes
4. All entries must be submitted by 31 March 2012

How to participate?

  1. Register below as a participant by 15 Mar 2012 with details of your team and school with few details like your Name , NRIC no , class , school name , contact no and email. Upon registration we will send you a set of detailed instructions for the competition. Register early to stand a chance to win "Early bird" prizes

  2. Upload your video(s) onto YouTube with the title “Young Talent Video – (your own title)” as a "Private video" before 31 Mar 2012. Access is to be granted to your school/college representative and the competition coordinator. Do not make your video "public" at this point of time.

  3. Videos will be shortlisted for the final round. Finalists will be announced on this website on 4 Apr 2012. Participants whose videos are shortlisted are required to send a copy of their video(s) in a CD/DVD to organizers. These videos will be made available for public viewing from 4 Apr 2012.

  4. Winners will be announced during a SEMICON Show, an industry event at Marina Bay Sands on 24 April 2012.

Basic Rules

  1. Teams must be made up of students from the same school.

  2. Teams can produce and edit an up-to 3 min video clip which they can upload to a moderated YouTube channel.

  3. The video’s will follow a predefined theme, but all the artistic and scientific freedom is left to the producers to make the story as creative, catching and compelling as possible. Click here to view potential story-lines.

  4. Videos are to be uploaded from 1 - 31 Mar 2012

  5. Participants will share ownership of the videos with the organizers.

    Jury Panel

    First round of selection will be done by the participants’ respective schools. Thereafter, selected videos enter the finals and judged by a panel of judges formed by representatives from companies and government agencies
