As semiconductor supply chains become increasingly regional, collaboration between neighbouring ecosystems is becoming more important than ever. Singapore contributes world-class R&D, global connectivity, regional headquarters, and a mature innovation ecosystem, while Batam offers manufacturing scale, competitive operating costs, expanding industrial infrastructure, and a growing pipeline of skilled talent. Together, these strengths present opportunities to build a more integrated manufacturing corridor across the region.

The delegation visited Tembesi Innovation District, Panbil Industrial Estate, PT PCI Elektronik Internasional, and Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam), gaining firsthand insights into Batam’s industrial ambitions, manufacturing capabilities, and talent development initiatives. Discussions extended beyond infrastructure and manufacturing to workforce development, regional expansion, investment considerations, and operating across multiple markets.

Beyond the site visits, the mission created valuable opportunities for meaningful dialogue among industry leaders. Participants openly exchanged perspectives, lessons learnt, and practical experiences across different markets, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in strengthening regional semiconductor supply chains.

The Batam mission demonstrated the potential of a more connected Singapore–Batam semiconductor corridor, where industry, infrastructure, talent, and government work together to support sustainable regional growth. The delegation returned with stronger relationships, fresh perspectives, and a shared appreciation that the future of semiconductor competitiveness will increasingly be built through cross-border collaboration.
