In The Spotlight

SSIA led a delegation of close to 30 leaders from Singapore’s semiconductor and precision engineering sectors on an industry mission to Batam. The visit brought together industry leaders to explore how Singapore and Batam can build on their complementary strengths to strengthen regional competitiveness and create greater value across the semiconductor ecosystem.

As global demand for semiconductors continues to accelerate, building regional linkages has become critical. Vietnam is taking steps to expand its role in semiconductor manufacturing and IC design, while Singapore remains focused on connecting strengths across the value chain to reinforce Asia’s competitiveness.

Earlier this year, SSIA expanded engagement with India — one of the world’s fastest-growing semiconductor markets. From forging partnerships in IC design and electronics manufacturing to aligning on talent development, the collaboration reflects the shared ambition of Singapore and India to build resilient, future-ready semiconductor ecosystems.

The SSIA-led semiconductor and photonics mission connected Singapore’s SMEs with Netherlands top technology clusters, paving the way for new R&D and manufacturing partnerships. From ASML to SMART Photonics and University of Twente, we explore opportunities to power the next wave of semiconductor, photonics, and AI-enabled innovation.
