Senior Vice President and Head of Semiconductors, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)

Kai Onn is the Senior Vice President and Head of Semiconductors at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), where he oversees strategies to grow and strengthen Singapore’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Prior to his current role, he was Director of the Energy and Carbon cluster at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, leading policy development on carbon allocation, carbon tax, corporate climate disclosure, and mitigation frameworks, as well as contributing to national R&D priorities for industrial decarbonisation.

Kai Onn joined EDB in 2006 and has held various leadership roles, including Vice President and Head of Chemicals & Materials, Regional Vice President for Americas Operations, overseeing investment promotion in central US and Latin America and Centre Director for EDB’s Mumbai office.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore and an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
